About Us
In 1966 a few old school friends and I decided to travel from New Zealand to Australia on a working holiday. After 12 months on this working adventure: from house keeping on a 2000 acres property in western New South Wales to Cairns in far North Queensland, practicing my skills as a barmaid in a Brisbane Pub and back to office work in Sydney.
It was on this working holiday I met Bob on a blind date at Rose Bay Sydney in November 1967. Bob had just returned from a tour of duty in Vietnam. Being in the Regular Army, he was stationed in Randwick, a suburb of Sydney. In February 1968 Bob was transferred to Puckapunyal in the State of Victoria, so on returning from New Zealand after a few months with my parents I moved to Melbourne.
We were married in Melbourne in December 1968 and then we played weekend husband and wife until an Army home became available at Puckapunyal midway through the following year. As Bob was away on exercise & courses, we decided to buy a dog. He wanted a Blue Heeler, having grown up with one on his paper runs in Rockhampton Queensland. But I had set my mind on a corgi, (being a Kiwi and a Royalist), so later that year we brought our first Welsh Corgi Pembroke.
With Bob being in the Australian Regular Army, postings were inevitable and after 9 transfers, 2 children and the opportunity to exhibit our Pembrokes in the States of Victoria, Western Australia, Queensland and New South Wales, we finally returned to Sydney NSW in February 1981 and Bob retired from the Forces in March 1984.
Together with our daughters Leanne and Robyn, with now grandsons, our achievements, our breeding and our exhibiting of this wonderful little friend and companion, the Welsh Corgi Pembroke, spans over the past 48 years, with over 55 BISS, have been exceptional.
